About Missalreact
A small editorial team championing indie audio.
Missalreact was started in 2022 by two former librarians and an indie publisher who'd watched audiobook discovery collapse into the same six bestseller recommendations on every platform. We made a deliberately curatorial alternative: editors who listen end-to-end, indie-only acquisition, and a weekly newsletter for listeners who want something other than what's being pushed at them.
How we curate
Every audiobook in the library has been listened to end-to-end by one of our editors — most by two. We acquire from small presses, indie authors, and translation publishers at fair commercial terms. No paid placements; ever.
Why indie
Major-publisher audiobooks have plenty of platforms. Indie audiobooks have very few. We exist for the half of audio that doesn't get the marketing budget — the small-press releases, the self-published memoirs, the translations that took someone three years.
Who we serve
Listeners with literary curiosity. People who'd rather discover something underheard than re-listen to the bestseller their friend already mentioned. Readers turning into listeners who want depth, not noise.
